                   NOTES: "ROBERT WALKER (see above) was born on 25 February 1851 in Wilberfoss, East Riding, Yorkshire, England, was christened in the Church of St. John the Baptist there on 16 March 1851, and died on 6 May 1940 in Harrisville, Alcona County, Michigan. He was the eldest of four sons born to JOHN WALKER and ELLEN {SILVERSIDES} WALKER. He was married at the age of 19 to MARY BROADLEY, also from Wilberfoss and they became the parents of ten children. Their first child, JUNE ELLEN WALKER was born in Wilberfoss in 1870, and shortly after they made the decision to emigrate from Yorkshire, England to Canada. They arrived in Canada in July 1872 and settled briefly in Norfolk County, Ontario, but then decided once again to emigrate to the United States where they settled in Michigan, briefly in Iosco County in 1874 and then by 1880 they settled permanently in Alcona County. "He bought out a shingle mill in Lincoln, Alcona County, Michigan and operated it for 16 years. About 1880, he built the first school house in Lincoln, hired a teacher and boarded him at his house... From 1897 to 1899 he operated a large mill on the Upper Michigan Peninsula at Grand Marais and that ended his shingle operations. He came back to Harrisville Township [in Alcona County] to make his home" and that is where he lived until he died. His funeral services were held at the Methodist Church and he was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery."

                   NOTES: "WILLIAM JOHN WALKER (see above) was born on 12 February 1854 in Wilberfoss, Yorkshire, England and was the second of JOHN and ELLEN (SILVERSIDES) WALKER's four children. He was christened on 28. February 1854 in the Church of St. John the Baptist in Wilberfoss, Yorkshire and grew up there. He was married to FRANCES EMMA THOMPSON on June 1875 in the Church of St. John the Baptist in Wilberfoss and they became the parents of eight children. He became a "Joiner" and moved the family to the city of York where they established a home on St. Mary Bishophill; they were listed there in the 1881 British Census. In 1887, they moved to Bilton with Harrogate, Yorkshire and resided there on Nydd Vale Terrace until WILLIAM JOHN WALKER's spouse FRANCES died in 1902. He then moved to Leeds, West Yorkshire and established a home with his son LAWRENCE WALKER on Alcester Place. WILLIAM JOHN WALKER remarried a FLORENCE HIGHSMITH in 1908 and they became parents of a daughter, LINDA MAY WALKER in 1911. WILLIAM JOHN WALKER remained in Leeds until his death.
